Preparation
Preparation
Below is a rough guide as to the maximum tinting weight per volume of product. For example with 10%, 1L of paint should contain no more than 100ml of Polyvine Acrylic Colourant. Always refer to the product's own data sheets for exact figures.
- Emulsion paint and latex = 10%
- Varnishes, lacquers and paints with high solids, such as enamel or chalk paint = 5-8%
- Acrylic paints = 6%
- Transparent lacquers and wood stains = 3-5%
- Silicate and silicone paints and coatings = 3%
Application
Application
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin.
- Shake thoroughly before and during use, making sure to reach the pigment in the top and bottom creases of the container
- Always use a separate container to mix products during initial testing and first mixing phases
- Add using a "less-is-more" approach, to not over saturate the colour
- Avoid using different batch numbers on larger projects where slight colour differences will be noticeable
