Zinsser Cover Stain Aerosol. The same protection you'd expect from the standard Zinsser Cover Stain but in a more portable and easier to apply aerosol can. Adheres to most surfaces without sanding and blocks bleed from resinous wood, such as cedar and redwood. It's an outstanding sealer for exterior hardwood and will work with a wide range of topcoats.
It's ideal for a wide range of projects such as ceilings, furniture, soffits, trim, walls, ceilings, railings and surfaces that have been damaged by smoke, fire or water. It can also be applied to plaster, cement-based coatings, wood, metal, vinyl, uPVC and most types of masonry.

For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.
- Ensure the source of any staining has been dealt with prior to application, this product cannot be applied to active leaks
- Clean as much of the stain as you can with a solution of detergent and water
- Lightly sand existing paint finishes, ensuring all flaking and defective material is removed, taking care with pre-1970's finishes as these may contain harmful amounts of lead
- Treat any active mould and mildew with Zinsser Mould Killer and Remover
- Fill all holes and surface imperfections with a suitable filler
- Wire brush rusty areas to remove loose and flaking material
- Thoroughly clean and degrease shiny or very hard substrates such as plastic
Always try a test area with Zinsser Cover Stain Aerosol before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Shake the can until it starts rattling, then continue for a further minute
- Hold the can around 20cm away from the surface and spray in a long, sweeping motion
- Hold the can upside down and spray out any residual paint in the nozzle for 2-3 seconds and wipe clean with a damp cloth
- 1 coat is generally sufficient for most projects, however very porous surfaces may require an extra cost
- Allow 2 hours between coats and before a suitable paint topcoat
