For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.

- Fill in any small holes or surface defects with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler
- Treat any wood knots with a suitable knotting solution
- Remove any mould growth with a dedicated mould and mildew cleaner
- Old paint that shows signs of cracking, peeling or flaking should be completely removed
- Paintwork in sound condition should be lightly sanded to provide a key and ensure that all traces of sanding dust have been removed after sanding
Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess performance and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply 2 coats of Ronseal Super Flexible Primer using a high quality synthetic brush and finishing in the direction of the wood grain
- Allow 4 hours to dry between coats
- Once dry, abrade the surface a light sanding with p240 sandpaper
