Dulux Trade Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint is a high-quality, water-based masonry coating for exterior walls. Dulux Trade suggest this is up to 5 times more flexible than standard masonry paints which means it will be able to move with and stand up to even the most harsh, demanding environments. It has high resistance to mild atmospheric fumes and humidity and salts in new mortar and rendering.
It's perfect for bare and previously painted masonry surfaces, including those painted with solvent-based finishes. Also good for concrete, roughcast, pebbledash and some types of brickwork, too.
- Also available from the Dulux Trade Weathershield Masonry Paint range: Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint
Please note: this product should not be used on fletton or common types of brickwork, parapet, or any free-standing brickwork below ground level.
For the best results, ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and grease. New surfaces should be thoroughly dry before application. Do not apply Dulux Trade Weathershield Masonry Paint in extremes of temperature or during rain, fog or during periods of high humidity.
- Wash down any previously coated surfaces with a suitable cleaning detergent to remove any dirt, grease or chalking paint, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry
- Remove any failing or defective coatings back down to a bare substrate
- Lightly abrade sound, existing coatings for a key, taking care with pre-1960's surfaces as these may contain harmful amounts of lead
- Remove and treat any mould or any other organic growth with Dulux Trade Weathershield Multi-Surface Fungicidal Wash
- Fill any holes, cracks or surface defects with a suitable filler
- Surfaces that remain powdery, friable or chalky should be sealed with a coat of Dulux Trade Weathershield Stabilising Primer, do not seal sound, new or bare surfaces
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to reach the pigment in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply with a brush, roller or airless spray system
- Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned first coat of Dulux Trade Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint, with up to 20% clean water
- Most projects will require 2 full coats, however previously painted surfaces in a similar colour may only require 1 coat
