Overview
Dulux Trade Eggshell is a solvent-based mid-sheen finish formulation that is tough, durable and does not require an undercoat except when a strong colour change is required. Ideal for a low-luster finish on wood and metal projects but can also be used as a problem-solver on walls where matt emulsions won't suffice as the eggshell surface can easily be cleaned.
- For a water-based, durable eggshell, use Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell
Preparation
Preparation
Ensure that surfaces painted with Dulux Trade Eggshell paint are clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and grease.
- Any holes, splits or other surface defects should be filled with a suitable wood filler
- For new or bare timber, prime with Dulux Trade Undercoat or if a strong colour change is required on previously painted timber
- For painted timber that does not require undercoat, rub down with P120 sandpaper for a key on the surface to aid adhesion and remove any dust with a slightly damp lint-free cloth
- Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s painted surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
Application
Application
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess the suitability of the finish. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin.
Please note: this product is not suitable for spray application.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply 2 coats of Dulux Eggshell using a good quality synthetic paint brush or microfibre roller
- Allow 16-24 hours between coats
Please note: when this product has been freshly applied, it may appear glossier than normal, but this should flatten off and reach a typical eggshell sheen around 7-14 days after the final coat has been applied.

Aftercare
Painted surfaces can be gently wiped down with a damp lint-free cloth to remove surface scuffs and marks.
When it's time for a refresh, apply a fresh coat of Dulux Trade Eggshell Paint using the Preparation and Application steps above.
