Dulux Heritage Undercoat is a fast-drying, water-based undercoat with excellent adhesion and opacity for the very best finish with a chosen topcoat. Ideal for interior wood and metal surfaces, such as door frames, skirting boards radiators and shelving.
Can be used in conjunction with with a wide range or either water or solvent-based topcoats. The recommended finish is Dulux Heritage Eggshell due to its special formulation and have been designed to work with each other perfectly.
For the best results with Dulux Heritage Undercoat, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from any surface contaminants.
- Remove all loose and defective paint using a scraper, paint stripper or sanding, special care should be taken if removing pre 1960s paint as this could contain harmful lead
- All oil, dirt, grease and dusty or powdery residues are required to be removed by washing the area with an appropriate detergent and then rinsed clean
- Apply a filler to any cracks, holes or suface imperfections
- Previously painted gloss surfaces should be lightly sanded to provide a key
Always perform a test area before starting any project to judge the suitability, effectiveness and finish of the product
- Stir Dulux Heritage Undercoat thoroughly to ensure a good mixture of pigment and paint medium, making sure to mix the very bottom and sides of the tin
- Apply with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller
- The normal finishing procedure is 2 full coats, though this can differ if a strong colour change is required
Once dry, Dulux Heritage Undercoat should finished with a top coat of Dulux Heritage Eggshell or any other suitable top coat, relevant to the project in hand.
