- Need a dedicated paint for interior wooden and concrete flooring? See Bedec Acrylic Floor Paint
Bedec MSP is unsuitable for areas in constant contact with water, such as shower cubicles and areas of high traffic such as worktops and hand-rails. Wood that has been treated with a water-repellent, wax-enriched wood preservative should be avoided as this will cause issues with adhesion. Can be used on glass internally but not externally.
For the best results from Bedec MSP, ensure that surfaces painted are clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and grease.
- Remove fungal and algal growth with a suitable fungicidal cleaner
- Smooth or glossy surfaces should be lightly abraded for adhesion, Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960?s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead
- Ensure bare steel is free from rust and scale and prime with a suitable metal primer
- Pressure treated (tanalised) timber should be allowed to weather for at least 6 months before painting
- Grey, denatured wood should be abraded
- New, planed wood should also be sanded to open the grain and allow for maximum adhesion
- Where there is risk of staining, tannin bleed or exudates from knots in wood, a stain blocking primer should be applied, a knotting solution is not recommended
- Allow new creosote finishes 3 months to weather
- Hot surfaces such as radiators should be allowed to cool thoroughly before application and allowed to dry thoroughly before use is resumed
- Etching, or priming galvanised steel is not necessary, allow new galvanised steel to weather for 2 months before painting with Bedec Multi Surface Paint
Always try a test area of Bedec MSP (Multi Surface Paint) before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin. Do not apply externally if there is risk of rain or fog. Do not apply to damp or frozen surfaces.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to reach the pigment in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- On bare wood, cement, render, plaster brick or any other porous substrate, the first coat should be thinned with up to 30% clean water
- Apply with a brush, roller of HVLP or airless spray- spraying can significantly reduce coverage rate, depending on equipment used
- Apply 3 coats to bare substrates, 2 coats are normally sufficient for pre-painted projects, allowing 4 hours to dry between
