Bedec All Prime is a high quality, water-based all purpose primer for use on both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Recommended Uses : Can be applied to interior and exterior, walls, ceilings, doors, trim, facia. soffits, foundations, railings and related paintable surfaces. Bedec All Prime bonds to wood, plaster, concrete, gloss enamels, hardboard, glass and tile. Provides a rust inhibitive coating on iron railings, steel frames, piping etc.
- Interior Substrates : Suitable for new or previously painted drywall, cured plaster, cement, poured concrete, concrete block, stucco, wood (pine, fir, birch, oak and plywood), aluminium, iron, steel and galvanised metal, PVC, glossy laminates and other interior surfaces.
- Exterior Substrates : Recommended for all types of wood (New or previously painted pine, fir, cedar, redwood, plywood, T-111, and pressure treated wood), hardboard, metal (aluminium, steel, iron and galvanised metal), PVC, fibreglass, masonry (stucco, concrete block, poured concrete and brick).
- Cedar and Redwood Bleed : Traps tannins in the primer film to prevent them from bleeding into the finish coat. For best results, allow to dry overnight before applying topcoat. Very porous woods may require two coats before topcoat.
- Chalk Cladding : Contains chalk-binding resins for use on moderately chalking aluminium or previously painted cladding and trim, after suitable cleaning and preparation.
- Glossy Surfaces : Adheres to glossy enamel paints and clear finishes, MDF, PVC, fibreglass, vinyl and ceramic tile, pre-sanding or surface deglossing may be needed.
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, oil, wax, mould, wall paper adhesive or any contamination that may interfere with adhesion. If unsure, always wash the surface with a household cleaner, appropriate cleaning solution, or methylated spirit and rinse off.
- Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead
- Clean new galvanised with methylated spirits, remove any unsoundly adhered coatings, sand any remaining paint film edges smooth and level the surface
- New plaster which is polished or dusty should be abraded to open the surface. Lightly sand exposed exterior wood with 80 to 100 grit sandpaper to remove loose or weathered wood fibres
- When priming over stained areas, first attempt to remove as much of the stain as possible by washing and sanding
- Remove mould and treat area with Fungicidal Wash.
- Remove rust, wire brush rusty areas and wipe surface clean with methylated spirits
Always do a test area before starting any project to test product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
Apply when air and surface temperature is between 10°C and 32°C with a relative humidity of less than 85%
Ready to use, no dilution necessary unless on porous surfaces where a thinned down (up to 30%) with water is required to increase penertration and adhesion as a sealer.
- Stir thoroughly before and periodically during use
- Apply evenly and consistently, using a good quality synthetic bristle brush, roller or airless spray gun
- In most cases only one coat may be necessary, porous surfaces may require two coats to properly seal.
- Prime entire surface for best results
- Allow to fully dry for 4 hours between coats
- Touch dry in 2 hours
- Apply topcoat within 30 days.
- Full adhesion and hardness develop after 7 days
Spray gun Guidelines
- Thinning: If thinning is necessary other than a priming coat add no more than 10% clean water and stir thoroughly. Note that thinning the primer may affect its stain blocking properties
- Airless sprayer: Use tip size 0.013 - 0.015 at pressure 2500psi
